Citizens Advice and Jobcentre Plus are another two partner bodies who are pivotal members of the Community Hub, they each command a customer presence in order to deliver essential services to residents.
Basildon Council rents office space to Citizens Advice and Jobcentre Plus
Since 2016, Citizens Advice and Jobcentre Plus have been based at Basildon Council's Town Centre offices in the Basildon Centre, to form an integral part of the Community Hub. This agreement enables both organisations to continue providing an extensive advice service to residents across the borough on a range of issues.
Case Study
The re-location involved around 150 staff in the move, which has generated an income for the council to protect other services. Around 60% of the work carried out by Citizens Advice is in relation to debt and benefits. The service offers consumer advice, employment assistance, family support and legal help.
The service also provides free, confidential and impartial advice and campaign on big issues affecting peoples lives. Our shared goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problem they face.
The agreement is a strong example of the council's strategy to improve services and cost taxpayers less.
