Laindon Community Centre - Works timeline and planned reopening

Basildon Council is now fully committed to reopening Laindon Community Centre as soon as works to ensure the centre is fit for purpose have been completed.

Basildon Council took over the running of Laindon Community Centre in November 2020 after the keys were handed to the council by the Laindon Community Association.

Following a thorough buildings inspection it was discovered the centre was no longer fit for purpose. Works are currently underway to bring the building back into use and ensure it is fit for purpose and meets the needs of the community.

This is provisional timeline and further progress updates will be published here as time goes on.

Scope of works report on Mechanical Services:
  • Liaise with gas utility provider and generate a quotation for a re-connection/New connection
  • Generate a scope of works and any drawings.
Proposed Mechanical works:
  • Reconnection of gas, drain and power flush the heating system fill and dose, re-commission the existing boilers, pumps, pressurisation unit, controls, etc.
Review options to convert the water system to mains fed and scope accordingly.

Proposed Electrical works:
  • Isolate and test the incoming supply and main distribution. Test emergency lighting, fire alarm, intruder alarm, etc. carryout a small power test and inspection.

In relation with a shortlisted contractor provide a quotation for the works.

With the quotation approved appoint the contractor and plan the works.
