How to pay Basildon Council

Making a payment to Basildon Council is becoming easier. A growing number of services offer secure online payment or setting up a direct debit.

Setting up a Direct Debit

First, setting up a Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your invoices. Basildon Council automatically take payment on a pre-agreed date - so you know you are paying your bills on time.

Paying Securely Online

Making an online payment is available any time of day, on any device.

Visit our online payments page and select the service you are making a payment to, including:

Council Tax

Housing / Garage Rents

For security, Basildon council do not save credit or debit card details. There is no surcharge for card transactions.


Recurring payments

A Recurring Card Payment is a convenient payment method, where Basildon Council is given permission by a resident to charge their credit or debit card on a prearranged, recurring schedule for their Council Tax or Rent. This means you don't have to call or go online to pay - saving you time and peace of mind.

Paying at the Basildon Centre

You can make payments to us by cash at the Basildon Centre.

Automated pay points are available in reception at the Basildon Centre. Our self-service machines accept payments for all council services with cash payments or credit / debit cards.

Now, when you need to make a payment to Basildon council, you do not need to make time to visit the Basildon Centre. By setting up a direct debit, the council automatically takes payment on a pre-agreed date.

You can make cash payments to Basildon Council at your bank.

Council housing or garage rent payments made by cash at the bank

When making a cash payment of council housing or garage rent to Basildon Council at your bank, please make payment to the following account number:

  • Account number: 1831 7468  - (this account number is for rent payments only).

All other payments to Basildon Council made by cash at the bank (except rent)

When making a cash payment to Basildon Council at your bank for anything other than rent, please make payment to the following account number:

  • Sort Code: 30-80-12

IMPORTANT: When making a payment to Basildon Council at your bank, please be sure to include the correct payment reference number on your bank payment slip. Depending on what your are paying for this will be one of the following:

  • a Basildon Council invoice number
  • a Council Tax account reference number
  • a Council housing or garage rent reference number.

Using an Allpay Card

Allpay cards are no longer being issued. However, existing cardholders can continue to make payments to Basildon council using their card.
