In the news: Your Future Careers Fair returns this October to support young people in the borough
Basildon Council will host this year's Your Future Careers Fair on 18 October at The Towngate Theatre to help young people making decisions on their future.
The fair is open to all young people in year 10 - 13 (aged 14 - 18) in the borough along with parents and carers. The first two hours of the event from 3.30pm - 5.30pm is allocated specifically for young people with additional needs and the second half from 5.30pm - 7.30pm is open to all young people.
Throughout the event there will be many exciting opportunities to meet employers, colleges, universities and sixth forms as well as a range of other services. Attendees can also book in a session to speak to a careers adviser.
Just a few of the stallholders at the event include Ipeco, Creative Basildon, NHS, Morgan Sindall Property Services, Royal Navy, Ford, USP, The Advice Store, ACL, and many more, all available to help young people kickstart a successful career.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to listen to talks on apprenticeships, university, interview techniques, careers in the tech industry including gaming and Web3 and a talk from Ford.
Councillor Anthony Hedley, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Business Engagement said "The Your Future Careers Fair really is a fantastic opportunity for young people in the borough to get ahead on their future career and hear from a multitude of providers. This year's event will see over 35 stallholders with expert knowledge covering a range of sectors such as construction, finance, and the public sector.
"I would encourage as many young people in the borough to attend and take up the great opportunity to get valuable advice and knowledge to help with their future."
