In the news: ACL Essex joins the successful Advice Store in Basildon Town Centre

This week Basildon Council's Advice Store welcomed ACL Essex, the largest provider of adult education in the county, to the store.

Based fortnightly at the Advice Store, ACL brings new opportunities to people in Basildon through virtual and face-to-face learning for adults of all ages.

ACL, part of Essex County Council, has adapted a huge range of flexible courses that are delivered online, via distance learning and in classrooms, to help local people flourish. They offer taster sessions, flexible learning courses, apprenticeship opportunities and information on financial wellbeing.

ACL courses include Apprenticeships and Professional Learning, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Community and Family Learning and Qualifications and Skills for Employment.

Residents are invited to come along and discuss the support they need with the ACL team. Together they will explore a range of options to take their next steps.

As the newest partner to join the Advice Store, ACL joins a range of organisations providing free skills advice, opportunities for local people and ongoing support for the unemployed to find work. Whether you are looking to change your career and need to update your skills, are currently unemployed and looking for work or leaving full time education and need advice on career options - the team at The Advice Store in Basildon Town Centre are here to help.

Councillor Anthony Hedley, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Business Engagement said "The Advice Store is a fantastic asset for our borough and it's great to welcome another great organisation to the store, a hub for people of all ages to learn new skills or further their education.

"The established store has many great resources available to help the people of the borough gain new skills and employment opportunities. Head down to the store and meet with our partners, explore your situation and learn more about options to improve your employability."

Find out how the Advice Store and ACL can help you. Visit the team in store at 5 Market Pavement, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1DD from 10am to 4pm Monday to Thursday. Alternatively, you can visit their website  www.basildon.gov.uk/theadvicestore
