In the news: Help shape the future of Westgate: residents and businesses invited to share their views

Basildon town centre is evolving, and the council is inviting local residents and businesses to get involved by reviewing the latest proposals for the Westgate development — and sharing their feedback.

This marks the second phase of public consultation. Building on the ideas and insights gathered during the first consultation earlier this year, the updated proposals reflect the priorities and concerns raised by residents. Now, the council wants to hear your thoughts on the emerging design, including plans for public spaces, housing, cultural facilities, and leisure opportunities.

Residents are encouraged to drop in, view the updated plans, and speak with members of the project team to learn more about how the Westgate masterplan is progressing.

Councillor Jessica Power, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Jobs & Skills, is urging the community to take part: "We received 250 responses during the first consultation and welcomed over a thousand visitors to our drop-in event and online platform. We've listened carefully and incorporated many of your ideas and suggestions.

"This is your chance to see how your feedback is shaping the future of Westgate — and to have your say as we move forward."
