Properties on a Friday week 1 Waste and Recycling collection incorrectly showing a non-recycling collection due today 19th April 2025.

We are aware of an error impacting Friday week 1 waste collections, which meant some properties showed a non-recycling waste collection due today, 19th April, on Where I Live and the Our Street App, ahead of weekly collections starting from 28th April. This collection was showing in error and the issue which caused this has now been resolved. As per the fortnightly week 1 waste collection still active, your next collection was due Saturday 26th April, and weekly thereafter. Please therefore take your black wheelie bin back in and represent this on your next collection date. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this error may have caused.

In the news: Partners officially "seal the deal" on new Community Diagnostic Centre

The new facility will deliver much-needed NHS diagnostic facilities to the borough

Basildon Council, Essex County Council and NHS Foundation Trust have agreed to officially progress with a new NHS Community Diagnostic Centre which will reduce waiting times for diagnostic tests including scanning and imaging facilities.

The centre, formerly The Place, will be developed by the Mid and South Essex NHS Trust, and will also be home to a redesigned Pitsea Library and community spaces managed by Basildon Council.

The new building will enhance the appearance of the site and the new facilities will increase footfall into Pitsea - supporting local retail activity and reinvigorating the town centre.

Councillor Jack Ferguson, Basildon Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Community said: "Cutting waiting time for diagnostic testing that can save lives is a mission shared across public services in Basildon, and I'm thrilled we've sealed the deal with partners to develop a new centre in Pitsea.

"The site can now be handed over to Morgan Sindall for works to begin. I look forward to seeing the exciting new development take shape."

The site will now be handed over to Morgan Sindall Construction, allowing demolition works to begin.
