Licence Premises - Recent Applications

Recent applications for new Premises or Club Licences, or changes to existing Premises or Club Licences can be viewed by appointment with the Licensing Authority at Basildon Council's town centre offices.

Making a Representation against a Licence Application

Any person who lives in the borough, or has a business interest here, may make a representation against an application. The representation must be made within the 28 day consultation period after an application is submitted.

Representations should be made in writing to the address at the top of this page. Anyone making a representation that is judged as relevant will be entitled to expand on their views at the subsequent hearing.

It is an offence to knowingly or recklessly make a false statement in connection with an application and the maximum fine for such an offence is £5000.

What grounds can be used for a Representation?

The Licensing Act 2003 is based around four principles:

  • the prevention of crime and disorder
  • public safety
  • the prevention of public nuisance
  • the protection of children from harm.

Representations must relate to one or more of these principles, and other issues would not be considered relevant.

The Grounds for the application to review are that on 15 March 2018 an Incident occurred which resulted in serious injury undermining the following licensing objectives:

4. The  Protection of Children from Harm.
