UKSPF Feasibility Fund Call Specification

Applications are now open for Basildon Borough's UK Shared Prosperity (UKSPF) Feasibility Fund

Following the announcement of £1.2 million of UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) for Basildon Borough, we are pleased to announce that the first window for applications is now open for feasibility and research work.

What do we mean by feasibility and research work?

By feasibility and research work, we mean studies that are generally intended to consider all of the critical aspects of a proposed project, in order to determine the likelihood of it succeeding.

You may have an idea for a project but need to undertake some preliminary work to assess the practicality of a proposed plan, method or approach.

Normally, this is done by analysing the technical, economic, legal, operational and time feasibility factors. For example, do you have the people, tools and the resources necessary, or will the project get you the Return On Investment (ROI) you expect, to enable it to be viable over the long term?

We are particularly keen to support feasibility projects for local community infrastructure, including physical town centre regeneration schemes (including public realm); improvements to existing, community and neighbourhood infrastructure; the establishment co-working space; the creation & improvement of green and blue infrastructure, including community gardens, watercourses & embankments; enhanced educational, cultural, historic and heritage facilities; built/landscaped environment schemes to 'design out crime'; support for active travel infrastructure enhancements; and local sports and leisure facilities.

Applications must be submitted by Friday 24 May 2024.

The funding from the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, is available to registered legal entities who undertake feasibility and research work that will support the delivery of projects in Basildon.

Organisations can apply for single projects up to a maximum value of £20,000.

This call is for feasibility and research work only and eligible activities include, but are not limited to the following:

·       Externally commissioned work

·       Primarily and desktop research and options analysis

·       Surveys, ballots, and other public consultations

·       Proof of concept development

Expenditure not suitable for the funding include:

·       Planning or other statutory fees

·       Running costs or salaries

·       Post-RIBA stage 2 (in relation to construction projects)

The fund will not support activity that is commercial in nature or is solely for the benefit of the application organisations. Therefore, it is anticipated that the fund will be mainly of interest to organisations that provide services and support communities.
