Basildon Council has partnered with local providers of skills, training and career advice to support local people in a welcoming and accessible space. The Advice Store is for anyone who is looking for help finding work or wants to gain new skills or retrain to enter more fulfilling, secure and better paid employment.

Whether you are looking to change your career and need to update your skills, are currently unemployed and looking for work or leaving full time education and need advice on career options - the team at The Advice Store in Basildon Town Centre are here to help.

The Advice Store - case study 001
Sam came into the store with their probation officer, very much feeling that there were no further options in terms of help and support in returning to work.

Sam had previous experience in Labouring and construction and wanted to explore this option further, they had a 1-2-1 session with National Careers Service to discuss skills and aspirations- from there Sam was referred to obtain a CSCS card from SECTA. Since successfully completing this, Sam has been supported into becoming self-employed.
