COVID-19 UPDATE - Council managed golf club, tennis courts, ball courts and fishing lakes open.

Parks and open spaces are open to the public for walks and daily exercise in line with government social distancing guidelines.

Borough's council managed fishing lakes, outdoor tennis courts and ball courts in parks and open spaces have also reopened to the public in line with government guidelines. Basildon Golf Course has also reopened in line with government guidelines.

Particular care should be taken when using any indoor facilities such as toilets next to, or nearby, any of these facilities.

Children's play areas and outdoor gyms start reopening from Saturday 4 July onwards.

Basildon Council has now reopened many of its children's play areas and outdoor gyms in parks, open spaces and housing estates.

Before reopening each of more than 140 children's play areas and several outdoor gyms, council staff must sanitize all contact points and surfaces on play and exercise equipment with specialised cleaning solutions.

For a list of children's play areas and outdoor gyms which are now open, see COVID-19 - Council Services affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak (item 2).

These facilities should not be used by anyone showing coronavirus symptoms, or anyone who is self-isolating.

Follow the COVID-19 safety precautions

Play areas and outdoor gyms which have been deep cleaned and reopened will display signs advising visitors of COVID-19 safety precautions.

Visitors are also asked to apply hand sanitizer before and after using play or outdoor gym equipment.

Social distancing guidelines must be observed at all times. For guidance see: GOV.UK - Coronavirus (COVID-19): Guidance and support.
