Polling day for the Basildon Borough Council election is Thursday, 2 May 2019, between the hours of 7.00am and 10.00pm.

Elections for Borough Councillors will take place in 14 of the Borough's 16 Wards. (This year elections will NOT take place in the Crouch or Langdon Hills wards).

The Returning Officer for the elections is Scott Logan, Chief Executive of Basildon Borough Council.

When will the election take place?

The election will take place on Thursday 2nd May 2019 between the hours of 7.00am and 10.00pm.

How do I find out where my polling station is?

Your poll card will detail your polling station. However, you can also find your polling station by using the Council's Where I live... web page.

Will I receive a poll card?

Yes - If you are registered to vote you should receive your poll card by Monday 1st  April.  However, if you have not yet registered to vote but do so after 13 March, you should receive a poll card by 25 April 2019. Each member of the household who is eligible to vote should receive a poll card providing further information on how they can vote.

You do not need to take your poll card with you to vote but it is very helpful to do so.

When is the last date that I can register to vote at the election on 2nd May 2019?

The deadline for registering to vote in this election is Midnight on Friday 12th April 2019.  See Register To Vote for details of how to register to vote at elections.

When is the last date that I can request / amend a postal vote?

The deadline for new applications to vote by post, new applications for a proxy postal vote and also any amendments to existing postal votes and proxy votes is 5pm on Monday 15 April 2019. When is the last date that I can request / amend a proxy vote?

The deadline for new applications for a proxy postal vote and also any amendments to existing postal votes and proxy votes is 5pm Monday 15 April 2019.

The deadline for applications to vote by proxy (except for medical or employment emergency) is 5pm on Wednesday 24th April 2019. After 5pm on 24th April if you were unable to vote in person because of a medical condition, illness, disability or due to work reasons you could apply for an emergency proxy up until 5 pm on polling day (Thursday 2nd May 2019) subject to the appropriate attestation being provided. Further information about proxy votes can be found at Proxy Vote - Appoint Someone To Vote On Your Behalf ..

If I have asked for a postal vote, when will I receive it?

The majority of postal votes will be posted on Monday 15th April, however any new applications to vote by post received after Friday 29th March will be posted on Wednesday 17th April. If you have not received your postal vote by Friday 26th April you should contact us using the details below.
