Councillor Allan Davies was elected as Mayor of Basildon by his fellow Council members on Thursday 23 May 2024 and re-elected on Thursday 1st May 2025 for an extended year in Office.
Allan was born in St Andrews Hospital, Billericay, and has always lived in Basildon. He attended Woodlands School, Basildon and followed with completing an Electronics Apprenticeship at GEC Sensors, Basildon. He also has a degree in International Politics BA(Hons) from the University of East London.
In the past he has worked as a postman, a market manager and is currently in position at James Hornsby School as a teaching assistant.
He has been involved in local politics for 23 years and is currently the longest serving Labour councillor, being first elected in 2002.
