Throughout the development process developers will put the housing needs of those who live and work in Basildon first - in particular local people looking to buy their first home and the borough's residents and keyworkers seeking to access affordable housing opportunities.  

If the development is popular and oversubscribed, developers will prioritise to make sure the properties go to local people most in need of a home. 

• Market exclusively to Basildon residents for up to a 12-month period before being offered to those external of the borough. 

• Prioritise the provision of affordable and accessible housing options for Basildon residents in accordance with the council's housing policies. 

• Ensure a sufficient number and range of homes can be provided to meet the needs of present and future generations.
