Supporting the Motivated Minds; Lifelong Wellbeing Provider
Carla Andrews, Founder and Managing Director for Motivated Minds:
We are extremely grateful to the Mayor for selecting Motivated Minds as his chosen charity of the year.
We are a Basildon based organisation, set up by local people to raise awareness and support mental health. At some point all of our team have been touched by mental health and because of this we want to reach out and support others who are struggling we use positive psychology and embed all our work around the NHS five ways to wellbeing: connecting, learning, being active, mindfulness and giving.
In 2019 we were runner up in the Royal Society of public health awards for health on the High Street.
Based in the heart of the community our HAPPY Hub and Wellness cafe in the Basildon Eastgate Centre aims to provide a safe space for people to come and connect, take part in therapeutic activities and just relax and enjoy themselves. We run various social action projects throughout the year to support our community , such as our community fridge, giving at Christmas and support to the homeless.
In 2018 we supported over 1899 people and hosted over 1000 Wellness sessions, everything from mindfulness, to community dinners to social action projects. We have taken people on a journey from struggling to thriving.

A look back at the Mayor's Charity Appeal
Over the 2020-21 term the Mayor's Charity Appeal raised £6,248 which, as well as supporting the Mayor's Community Foundation, enabled the appeal to give financial support to the Polly Parrot children's services appeal at Basildon Hospital, which was the Mayor's own chosen charity for 2020.
The Mayor's Charity Appeal also led the 'Keep the Lights On' campaign raising £32,725 to support hospitality workers through the Covid pandemic that didn't qualify to receive funding through the governments grant scheme.
