Basildon Council administers a Council Tax Reduction Scheme in order to help reduce the amount of council tax paid by people of working age who are on a low income or who are unemployed. Each year the Council has to decide if changes need to be made to the scheme.

The purpose of this consultation is to gather comments from the public on the changes it is proposed need to be made to the existing scheme, and which it is planned will come into effect from 1st April 2021.

The information we gather will be greatly valued and will be presented to Basildon Council's Policy and Resources committee for consideration before any final decision is made regarding the proposed changes to the existing scheme .
