Public Consultation - Housing Allocation Review

The current council allocation scheme is designed to ensure that the limited social housing the council has available is used appropriately and supports the needs of residents, the corporate objectives of the council and is reflective of current legislation.

A Local Government Association (LGA) peer review of the housing need service was undertaken in February 2023. A key recommendation arising from the review was for Basildon Council to look at additional measures to further develop the Housing Allocations Scheme. Whilst the current Housing Allocations Scheme is operating effectively there are a number of areas within the scheme that require reviewing.

The council is keen to seek the views of residents and the wider public on the proposed revision of the Housing Allocation Scheme through this survey. Your contribution will be reported to cabinet and support future decision making.
