In the news: Free day of sports and activities with Find Your Active Basildon Festival

Basildon Sporting Village will soon host the Find Your Active Basildon Festival for residents to enjoy a range of different sports and activities, all for free.

The event will be an opportunity to promote the sport and wellbeing opportunities available for residents, with a number of 'give it a go' sessions as well as interactive stands from other borough partners to showcase all that's on offer in our borough.

The event will take place on Saturday 24 September between 10am-2pm, with the activities happening across the athletics stadium and indoors in the sports hall, with entry being free from the trackside entrance.

Councillor Jeff Henry, Cabinet Member for Culture, Health, Leisure, Arts, said: "This will be a really fun, interactive day for residents to get involved in a range of sports and activities using the world class facilities at Basildon Sporting Village.

"The 'give it a go' sessions will give residents an opportunity to try activities they may never have before, and the day will show how much joy can be had through the power of sport.

"Please do come along by yourself or with friends and family - it's not one to miss out on!"

Further details on the specific activities and partners there on the day will be announced in due course.

The event is being delivered by Basildon Council, with support from partner organisations working in the borough and across Essex.
