In the news: New number to report housing repairs to go live next week
From next week Basildon Council tenants will have a new number to report repairs but they can still be reported via the online portal.

Basildon Council and its repairs and maintenance contractor, Morgan Sindall Property Services, are advising tenants to call this number for all routine or emergency repairs, including gas repairs and gas servicing and any out of hours Basildon Council emergency services.
Leader of Basildon Council Councillor Andrew Baggott said: "The best way to report repairs issues is still via Morgan Sindall's online portal but for those who are unable to use this service we are now introducing a new freephone number to speed up call waiting times and provide a better service to our tenants. I have listened to concerns on this from residents and this is our way of relieving some of the pressure and getting those calls answered quicker with a dedicated freephone number."
Chairman of the Housing and Estate Renewal Committee, Councillor Andrew Schrader said: "We are committed to improving the service we offer to residents and hopefully this new dedicated repairs hotline will help us do that."
The new system will enable council tenants to choose from three options and will make logging repairs requests simpler and easier.
Partnership Director, Morgan Sindall Property Services, Glenn Monksfield said: "Taking into consideration tenants' feedback, the introduction of this new freephone number will make the experience more seamless and will allow us to deal with repair requests more efficiently."
