Report a Missed Collection
We understand that sometimes, waste collections are missed, and this causes frustrations. Before completing a Missed Collections report, we ask all our residents to double check common reasons why their waste was not collected.
If none of the below apply to you, we have simply missed your collection. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued support for recycling.
Note: The Garden Waste Subscription Service launched Monday 5 June. From that date, garden waste will be collected weekly from homes displaying their permit sticker on the back of their green bin(s).
If your garden waste is not collected, make sure you are signed up to the service. It can take up to 10 days to receive your permit sticker.
If you have subscribed, but your permit sticker has not yet arrived, we will pick your bin up on our next collection round.

Report a missed collection online
Residents in the Basildon borough should place refuse and recycling outside by 7.30am on your collection day. Our collection vehicles leave the depot promptly at 7.30am and may be in your area shortly after this time.
Plus, leaving sacks outside overnight can attract animals. Animals ripping sacks open and spreading rubbish can cause unnecessary mess to your street.
Next, our collection crews are unable to enter your property (including gardens) to collect waste. Also, tucking sacks along hedges or next to a wall can make it hard for crews to spot as they are driving along your road.
Separating your waste into the correct containers means we can recycle as much as possible. If your bin/sack contains the wrong items, we can not collect it. Your bin/sack will have a 'contamination' sticker, card or tag to let you know.
Then, simply remove the incorrect items and place your waste outside your property on your next collection day.
Common Contamination Mistakes:
Inside your Green Bin:
- Mud or Soil
- Black or pink sacks
Inside your Pink Sacks:
- Glass bottles or jars
- Food waste
- Nappies or sanitary products
- Textiles mixed with household recycling
Inside your Glass Box:
- Drinking glasses
- Pyrex dishes
Inside your Black Sack
- Paint
- Clinical Waste
- Sharps or syringes

Bulky items need to be booked for what is known as a 'Special Collection'. For example, a common mistake we see are carpet rolls placed in black sacks with household rubbish. These are bulky items that our weekly refuse collections can not accept.
When booking a Special Collection, you choose a convenient time slot and our team will arrive with appropriate equipment.
If waste was not placed outside on the correct day for kerbside collections, this may need to be investigated.
