CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) - Basildon Council service and information updates
Latest national COVID-19 restrictions announced on Monday 4 January 2021; Coronavirus cases are rising rapidly across the country. To reduce the spread of the virus, the whole of England has entered a national lockdown with immediate effect. Restrictions will be put into law later this week.
Cllr Gavin Callaghan and Cllr Aidan McGurran have written to Dr Mike Gogarty, Director of Public Health for Essex, requesting an enquiry into the impact the virus has had on BAME communities in Basildon borough and the effectiveness of local responses - saying Basildon Council will fully support this in any way it can.
Leader of the Basildon Council Councillor Gavin Callaghan has written to Rebecca Pow MP, Minister at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to ask again that she remove the threat of a damaging Charging Clean Air Zone (CAZ) being introduced in Basildon.
The borough's tennis courts, ball courts, Basildon Golf Course, and fishing lakes have reopened in line with government guidance, and grass cutting on estates will resume today (Thursday 14 May) across the borough.
Basildon Council has announced that Barleylands Recycling Centre is being prepared for reopening - with strict social distancing measures in place for public and staff safety.
