CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) - Basildon Council service and information updates
Basildon Council is making decisions day by day in order to balance the need to maintain essential services and the need to support those who need our help the most, while at the same time following public health guidance for the protection of the public and staff against infection from coronavirus (COVID-19).
Cllr Gavin Callaghan and Cllr Aidan McGurran have written to Dr Mike Gogarty, Director of Public Health for Essex, requesting an enquiry into the impact the virus has had on BAME communities in Basildon borough and the effectiveness of local responses - saying Basildon Council will fully support this in any way it can.
Leader of the Basildon Council Councillor Gavin Callaghan has written to Rebecca Pow MP, Minister at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to ask again that she remove the threat of a damaging Charging Clean Air Zone (CAZ) being introduced in Basildon.
The borough's tennis courts, ball courts, Basildon Golf Course, and fishing lakes have reopened in line with government guidance, and grass cutting on estates will resume today (Thursday 14 May) across the borough.
