CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) - Basildon Council service and information updates
Latest national COVID-19 restrictions announced on Monday 4 January 2021; Coronavirus cases are rising rapidly across the country. To reduce the spread of the virus, the whole of England has entered a national lockdown with immediate effect. Restrictions will be put into law later this week.
The Leader of Basildon Council has written to the Secretary of State for Education the Right Honourable Gavin Williamson asking him to help out-of-pocket parents with financial compensation for cancelled school trips.
Over the past week Basildon Council staff have more than doubled the total number of business grant applications they have processed to help keep businesses going through the coronavirus pandemic, bringing the total value to more than £13 million.
West Ham United captain Mark Noble has again stepped in to support Basildon borough by funding the community effort to ensure food and medicines get through to some of the most isolated and vulnerable people in the community.
