Briscoe School, in Felmores End, secured £85,627 of funding from Veolia Pitsea Marshes Maintenance Trust to install an outdoor classroom and improve their outdoor play space.
The head teachers of Briscoe School, Nicola Coggin and Terri Chudleigh, said: "As you can see by the smiles on the children's faces we are all over the moon with our new outside area. This area, together with our new outside classroom, will make a huge difference to the experiences we can offer the children here at Briscoe.
"We hope that by continuing to work in partnership with Basildon Council, as we have on this project, we can use this space to enrich the lives of our whole community."
The Mayor of Basildon, Cllr David Burton-Sampson, said: "I'm delighted Briscoe Primary school has been given the opportunity to improve their play space and add an additional classroom with the help of grant funding.
"It's also reassuring to know that the classroom space will serve the community too and is open for hire.
"This is money well deserved and money well spent, because it's facilitating the education of students as well as cohesion in the community."
