Around 750 parents and young people headed to the Towngate Theatre in Basildon on Tuesday (8 October) to find out more about the further education and career opportunities available to 15-19 year olds once they have finished their exams.

Basildon Council organise the annual Your Future event which was sponsored this year by local employers Brown & Carroll, and Adult Community Learning (ACL), who provide further education opportunities.

Councillor Adele Brown, Chairman of the Infrastructure and Inclusive Growth Committee, said "It can be difficult for young people to decide what to do once they finish year 11 and that's why the Your Future event is so important. The feedback we have had from parents and young people who attended was that they didn't realise there were so many opportunities available to them in the borough - and that's what it's all about.

"I would like to thank all of the exhibitors and our sponsors for making Your Future 2019 possible, and to our apprentices for being great ambassadors for Basildon Council and using their first-hand knowledge and experience to help guide others."
