13 December 2018 - Residents are being urged to check their revised rubbish and recycling collection dates ahead of the Christmas period.

Residents are being urged to check their revised rubbish and recycling collection dates ahead of the Christmas period.

Basildon Council is delivering a collection calendar to households across the borough alongside the winter edition of Together magazine, with dates are also available here: Rubbish, bins and recycling information

Councillor Kevin Blake, Chairman of the Leisure, Culture and Environment Committee, said: "Christmas is a time when households produce more waste than usual so it's a busy time for our collection teams. They work hard to ensure we continue to run a full service, with all rubbish and recycling cleared as soon as possible after the big day.

"We are committed to working with the community to make positive environmental choices and urge residents to recycle as much as possible this festive season using their orange box for glass, their green bin for food waste and pinks sacks for plastic, paper and cardboard."

There will be no bulky item collection service between Tuesday 25 December and Wednesday 2 January, and no crunch service after Saturday 15 December until Saturday 26 January.

Barleylands Recycling Centre will close at 2.30pm on Christmas Eve and reopen as usual on Thursday 27 December 2018. It will then close again at 2.30pm on New Year's Eve and reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2019.
