If you or a member of your family is being treated at home or self medicating for a medical condition, the waste produced is considered clinical and could be hazardous.
Clinical waste should never be disposed of in your general weekly rubbish and recycling sacks.
Examples of clinical waste include:
Basildon Council offers a domestic clinical waste collection service for all eligible customers who live in the borough and self administer medical treatment. If treatment is administered by a medical professional e.g. a nurse, it is their responsibility to dispose of all clinical waste, you will therefore not be entitled to clinical waste collections.
To set up an arrangement for clinical waste collections please complete the confirmation of requirements form and the need for collection forms below. Once you submit both forms you will be contacted by our clinical waste contractor GB Holdings to set up a collection schedule.
One off Collections
If you require a one off collection you can send a request in by email to email@example.com. Please ensure you provide your name, address, contact number and details of the clinical items e.g. type and quantity.
Please note: Even if you have collections that aren't frequent, for example every three months or every six months you will still need to complete the above forms.
Certain types of waste may be classed as hazardous and therefore cannot be recycled by us or Essex County Council.
If you have any household waste which you think may be hazardous please see Love Essex or call Essex County Council on 0345 603 7625.
