Basildon's official guide to a place that people and commerce are proud to call home

Residents, Businesses and visitors alike will find useful information in this guide that will help make the most of the Basildon experience.

The Basildon Borough encompasses three main towns, each with its own distinct character: Basildon, Wickford and Billericay. Basildon is the modern commercial and residential core. Wickford is a traditional mixed suburban commuter town, while Billericay retains its old world charm combined with modern amenities. Other smaller residential and commercial centres include Pitsea and Laindon.

Basildon is one of the largest boroughs in Essex, covering an area of 42 square miles. it has a population of 174,500 in more than 75,000 homes. It is home to some of the biggest names in industry and is the business hub of south east Essex, and yet the borough has more green spaces than any other in the country.

The whole of the borough is within easy reach of London and is well served by road, rail sea and air links. This  positions Basildon supremely to take advantage of the commercial opportunities available both nationally and abroad.

There is a new surge of confidence as the Basildon Council has recently approved its new vision to create opportunity for local people and is also poised on the threshold of further opportunities. Millions of pounds are being invested to regenerate our town centres, remodel our residential estates and build new homes.
