Basildon Council has an exciting future. We are looking for a creative and driven Design and Creative Officer who has a keen eye for detail, passion for design, video, animation, photography and copywriting.
There will be various topics ranging from climate change campaigns, the regeneration of Basildon town centre to changes to waste and recycling collections to engaging with businesses. Basildon’s Revenues and Benefits are a nationally recognised award winning service. We are responsible for the billing and collection of Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debtors, and we administer the Housing Benefit scheme and Local Council Tax Support and Reduction schemes.
The role of the Benefits and Welfare Officer is to administer all aspects of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support assessment as well as Discretionary Payments and supporting the Welfare Teams, ensuring a high standard of quality and accuracy of work in accordance with law, regulations and guidelines.
We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of Benefits, ideally with experience of working in a Benefits section and to have knowledge of Welfare Benefits law and procedures. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and an effective team player, with excellent customer care and communication skills.

We want Basildon to offer a high quality of life for all residents through attractive, liveable, accessible and safe neighbourhoods and towns.
The purpose of this post is to help bring Pride to residents of the Basildon Borough, through supporting one off projects, carrying out requests raised by Councilors, members of the public and other departments. Through the work of this role we will enhance the areas our residents live in.
This role requires an eye for detail, leaving the area you are working cleaner, safer and more inviting. To achieve this you will need to think from the perspective of the residents and understand what they will be looking for from their neighbourhoods..

RENUMERATION: £12,000 per annum
TERM: Three years (reviewable on an annual basis)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Sempra Homes Chair
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Jointly responsible for the overall effectiveness of Sempra Homes’ development and delivery of the Company’s business plan.

TIME COMMITMENT: One to two days a month
Sempra Homes Limited is an award-winning housing development company; wholly owned by Basildon Borough Council. The company’s primary purpose is to support the housing needs of local residents by providing a range of different types of housing, including affordable rented, private rented and private sale homes together with priority given to borough residents, veterans and key workers.
The company has a successful track record of delivery and continues to develop with an active development pipeline to provide a further 500 plus homes over the next five years across the Basildon Borough and neighbouring areas.

As Sempra grows, the Board is seeking to supplement its existing membership with external expertise, from the housing development, construction or regeneration sector, to ensure the Company continues to flourish and provide quality homes.
MAIN PURPOSE
The Board Member will work with the Chairman and Service Lead for Sempra to further develop the overall strategic direction of Sempra Homes; developing and committing to its mission, vision and strategic objectives; and ensuring the business’ continuing financial viability.
