Warm Home Guarantee
Basildon Council has launched its Warm Home Guarantee to Protect Pensioners this Winter
The council has allocated £100,000 to help 1,000 pensioner households with energy bills as community urged to come together to ensure pensioners receive vital support. Basildon Council is calling on the entire community to get involved and help ensure pensioners have access to these vital services. Together, we can make sure no one is left out in the cold this winter.
- Applications will be open from 16th September 2024 until 31st March 2025 or until the fund is fully allocated.
- Applicants can apply online and physical forms will be available at community centres, or the Basildon Centre.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Applicant must be a pensioner (state pension age or above).
- Income: Not eligible for pension credit but with household income of between £219 and £300 if single or £332 and £450 if a pensioner couple.
- Residency: Must be a resident within the borough and not have a second home.
- Energy bills: Must provide evidence of their own heating/energy bills for the current or upcoming winter season.
You will be required to provide the following evidence as part of any application:
- Proof of age (such as a state-issued ID).
- Proof of your bank account - evidence of bank account that any award should be paid into (this must include account holder's name)
- Most recent heating or energy bill or receipt for pre-payment meters
Fund Allocation
- Each eligible household can receive up to £100 as a one-time grant. This is only available to a household once per annum.
- A total of £100,000 will be distributed, ensuring that 1,000 households can benefit.
- Grants will be disbursed on a first-come, first serve basis until funds are exhausted.
