Mayor of Basildon, Councillor Luke Mackenzie
Councillor Luke Mackenzie was re-elected as Mayor of Basildon by his fellow Council members on Thursday 25 May 2023.
Luke was born in Basildon, attending St Teresa's and Mayflower Schools. He has a degree in Economics and Politics from the University of Westminster.
He has previously worked for two MP's, Essex Police, The Association of Chief Police Officers, The National Police Chiefs' Council and currently works for the Conservative Group on the London Assembly.
Luke was elected as a Basildon Councillor for four years in 2008, he returned as a councillor in 2018 and previously held the role of Deputy Mayor during the municipal year 2021/22.
His key aim as Mayor is to continue to visit and support as many of our community groups as possible and to highlight what great place Basildon Borough is to live, work and do business.
Luke's chosen charity for 2023/2024 is Feeding the Family.

Deputy Mayor of Basildon Yetunde Adeshile
Councillor Yetunde Adeshile was re-elected Deputy Mayor of Basildon by her fellow Council members on Thursday 25 May 2023.
