Boom Room is a young persons music and media project for those aged between 13 to 19 years of age or up to 25 for those with additional needs
Boom Room is a diversionary music project run in conjunction with and for the young people of the Basildon district. The Boom Room showcases the musical talents of local young people aged between 13-19 or up to 25 years of age for those with additional needs, while at the same time engaging their peers and offering everyone, whether musically gifted or otherwise, the very real opportunity of being a stakeholder in the enterprise.
The project was initialised after thorough consultation with local young people. They wanted events that focussed solely on youth culture, rather than just involved them in "boring" activities they would not otherwise be involved in or that their peers would not find engaging.
The project is therefore run by young people with help and guidance by experienced adults in the voluntary and local authority sectors.
The Boom Room is a safe and fun project for young people. It is supported by experienced officers from Basildon Council and the Basildon District Arts Association.
It is an enjoyable place for young people to attend, partcipate, showcase their talents and learn new skills.
The project runs a series of events throughout the year:
