Basildon Council has now concluded its Community Governance Review following receipt of a petition proposing the establishment of a parish council in the Bowers Gifford and North Benfleet area of the district.
As required, Basildon Council has made a 'Re-organisation Order' which gives effect to the Council's decisions regarding this matter, which are as follows:
A parish is created in the Bowers Gifford and North Benfleet area of the district.
A parish council be created in the parish and be called "The Parish Council of Bowers Gifford and North Benfleet".
The number of councillors to be elected to the parish council shall be 7.
The initial precept of the parish council for the 2010/11 year shall be £12,850.
A copy of the Re-organisation Order, which comes into force on 1 April 2010, along with a detailed map and a document setting out the reasons for the decisions the Council has taken, is available for inspection at The Basildon Centre, St Martin's Square, Basildon, Essex SS14 1DL between the hours of 9.00am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday.
The election of all parish councillors for the Bowers Gifford and North Benfleet area shall be held in May 2010.
