Communal Boilers

A number of flats across the Borough receive their heating and hot water from a communal boiler, which provides hot water to each dwelling by way of insulated pipes from a central boiler room.

When the hot water reaches the flat it heats up radiators and water in a cylinder to provide space heating and hot water respectively.

The flats where heating and hot water are provided by a communal boiler system are;

  • Affletts Court
  • Becketts
  • Bradwell Court
  • Bradwell House
  • Coopersales
  • Havengore
  • Hillhouse Court
  • Hockley Road
  • Lanhams Court
  • Marden Ash
  • Maydells Court
  • Ryedene Place
  • Sparkbridge
  • Westmede
  • Whitmore Court
  • Queens Park Court

Repairs

The communal boiler systems are currently maintained by BSW Heating Ltd (see contact details below), who also carry out repairs to the radiators, hot water cylinders and pipework to the radiators and hot water cylinder in individual flats.

If a leak occurs on the pipework from the hot water cylinder to the taps, or if there is a problem with the hot water taps, these would be repaired by Morgan Sindall Property Services Ltd. They are also responsible for any leaks or faults that occur on the cold water pipe and taps.

Please note: BSW Heating and Morgan Sindall property Services are only responsible for carrying out repairs to the communal boilers, distribution pipework and radiators, hot water cylinder, pipes and taps in Council tenants' flats.

If a repair is required due to tenant abuse or accidental damage, the tenant will be recharged for this work.
