Basildon District Council attends to war memorials in the
following locations:Basildon Town Centre (St Martin's Church)
Billericay High Street (junc. of Chapel St)
Little Burstead Village Green
Pitsea (Howard's Park)
Wickford Memorial Park (Runwell Rd gate)

Basildon Council's Parks and Streetcare teams undertake the following responsibilities for the above war memorials:
  • Plant bedding twice per year around memorials with a bedding area, i.e. Billericay high street.
  • Cut any grass as necessary.
  • Undertake a weekly litter pick of the sites.
  • Undertake a twice yearly pressure wash of the stonework, if thought necessary.
  • Repair any damage to the area and report any damage to the stonework to depot managers.

For Remembrance Sunday:
  • Supply and place two tubs of White Chrysanthemums on each site, Billericay, Little Burstead, Wickford and Pitsea.

After Remembrance Sunday:
  • Collect all dead wreathes etc. a few weeks after Remembrance Sunday.

The following War memorials are not attended to by Basildon Council:
  • Vange, outside St Chads church, Clayhill Road.
  • Laindon, on the High Road
