Home Repair Assistance and Renovation loans can help with repairs such as:
- rotten windows
- dampness
- electrical re-wiring
- boiler replacement
Two discretionary loans which owner/ occupiers can apply for.
Basildon Council has two discretionary loans that can help with the cost of house repairs:
- a Renovation loan
- a Home Repair Assistance loan
You can apply for one or other of these loans if:
- you receive a qualifying benefit or meet other criteria
- you are an owner occupier over the age of 60
- you are an owner occupier under 60 with a disability
- a member of your household is disabled.

Financial assistance for private sector housing 
If you think you may be entitled to a loan, contact Basildon Building Consultancy.
Our Building Consultancy team will begin by arranging for an assessment of your housing circumstances.
This will be carried out by a representative of the Council's Environmental Health Services.
Please note: All decisions regarding loans will be taken by the delegated officers of Basildon District Council.
Basildon Building Control will always be available to assist throughout, from checking your elegibility to helping with all the things you may be unsure of, such as:
- filling out application forms
- arranging to get estimates from builders
- preparing paperwork
- arranging safe payments to builders
