Celebration of Youth Awards
Your nominations have been received, the short list for awards will be announced soon! | |
|
The very first Basildon District Celebration of Youth Awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday the 25th March 2008 at the Towngate Theatre, Basildon.
The Celebration of Youth Awards are intended to showcase and celebrate the rich tapestry of diversity evident in the young people of our district, whilst giving deserved recognition for some of the outstanding achievements made by our young people over the last twelve months.
| We have been delighted with the large
number of nominations we have received.
All are of very high quality and it just goes to
show how deeply people feel about having such
outstanding young people in the district.
The organisers would like to take this
opportunity to thank all of you who
submitted nominations.
|
Deciding which of your nominations deserves an award is going to be very difficult as so many of those nominated could make worthy winners.
If your nomination is shortlisted for an award you will soon receive an invitation to the awards evening.
For those of you whose nominations are not shortlisted for an award we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your support of this important event.
Although we would love to invite everyone who has made a nomination , or been nominated, to share in the award ceremony at the Towngate Theatre, sadly this is not possible.
Numbers of people who can attend must be limited to those who have been shortlisted and their guests.
In addition to the Celebration of Youth awards there will also be awards presented to a large number of young people for their achievements as Millennium Volunteers, Duke of Edinburgh candidates and Open College Network students.
There are 4 categories for which Celebration of Youth Awards will be presented.
- Volunteering - This award recognises young people who have gone beyond the call of duty when giving up their free time for the benefit of others and/or their community.
- Improved Behaviour - This award recognises young people who have made a positive effort to change their attitude and behaviour towards others and their environment.
- Act of Courage - This award recognises young people who have demonstrated responsibility in a potentially difficult situation. A situation where they have remained calm under pressure and made correct and balanced decisions.
- Inspiration/Role Model - This award recognises young people who are seen by their piers as an inspiration and as someone that has impacted on their life in a positive manor.
