Opening times.
Daytime Weekday opening: 9.00am till 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
Weekend & Evening opening: when there is an evening or weekend performance the theatre will open 1 hour before the performance starts.
Foyer Bars opening: At present the foyer bars will only open 1 hour before daytime and evening performances. Foyer bars will remain open throughout and after performances at the discretion of the duty manager, until no later than 11.00pm. On days when there are no performances the foyer bars will remain shut.

Access and Facilities for People With Disabilities
The Towngate Theatre has ground level access into the building.
The main auditorium has two slip boxes on the stalls level. Wheelchair access to these boxes is via a wheelchair lift.
Wheelchair spaces must be booked in advance, and notice given if assistance is required.
Please allow extra time to be seated if you require assistance.
There is a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor of the theatre.
There is allocated parking space for people with disabilities at the rear of the theatre.
There is a hearing loop in the main auditorium for people using hearing aids.
Car parking.
Daytime car parking: There is ample daytime car parking within a short walk of the Towngate, both surface and multi-storey. See car parking map.
Evening car parking: After 6.00pm there is plenty of free car parking at the rear of the Towngate and in the underground car park beneath the next door Basildon Centre offices. Entry to these is via the service road to the rear of the Basildon Centre from Great Oaks. See car parking map.
In addition, use of the nearby Westgate surface and multi-storey car parks is free after 6.00pm. Caution: We must warn patrons that the Westgate multi-storey car park is locked between 10.00pm and 7.00am every evening. See car parking map.

The Towngate Theatre is three minutes walk from Basildon Railway Station, the Bus station and two taxi ranks. It is just a few minutes drive from both the A13 and A127, just follow the signs for the Town Centre.
We are situated in St Martin’s Square, directly next to the Basildon Centre and we're clearly signposted from Roundacre roundabout on the A176.

The Towngate boasts a full bar service in our ground floor foyer which opens 1 hour before performances.
In addition there is a function bar on the first floor.
Both bars serve crisps, nuts etc.,

Art Gallery
A selection of works on loan from the Basildon Arts Trust collection and other sources are on continuous display in the Towngate Theatre foyers. In addition other temporary exhibitions are continually being planned and arranged. Please contact the box office for details of any current exhibition. |
