Applying for a disabled parking badge

Disabled parking badges are issued to people who have a permanent and substatial physical disability which affecttheir walking and mobility.

A disabled parking badge, now known as ‘Blue Badges’ previously known as ‘Orange Badges’, are issued by Essex County Council Social Services to people who have a permanent and substantial physical impairment that affects their walking and mobility.


The Blue Badge Scheme offers special parking concession for some peole with disabilities. It allows badge holders to park close to their destination. The concession typically apply to on street parking but concessions apply in select car parks.
