Basildon District Council cuts grass only along highways and housing verges. Grass verges maintenance is carried out from April to September following a preprogrammed route in each area.
Hedge pruning is carried out during the winter months normally October to March. Maintenance is managed by following a preprogrammed route in each area. Weather conditions dictate when the maintenance season starts and stops.

There are 27,000 trees within the Basildon District. Any enquiries regarding trees should be made directly to Streetcare on 01268 294949 or email streetcare@basildon.gov.uk
Throughout the district a large number of trees are preserved. To undertake remedial work on a preserved tree you will need formal written consent from the Planning Department on 01268 294155 or email planning@basildon.gov.uk
In partnership with the Tree Council, Basildon District Council runs a Tree Warden Scheme. This is open to all residents of the District with an interest in protecting, advising on and planting trees.
