National Concession Bus Pass for men and women.

From 1st April 2008 onwards... Basildon District Council can offer a free new National Concession Bus Pass to district residents who are either aged 60 and over, or who have certain disabilities and are of fare paying age and under 60 years old.

From 1st April 2008 onwards...

Residents who are entitled to a New National Concession Bus Pass will be able to use it on local bus services throughout the whole of England, free of charge from April 1st 2008.

The National Concession Bus Pass will last up to 4 years from the date of issue.

Pass holders will be entitled to use their pass during the following periods:
  • Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 11.00pm.
  • All day on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • All day on Bank Holidays
Before using their National Concession Bus Pass in another part of the country we recommend that pass holders try and find out:
  • which local bus company can accept your bus pass in that part of the country.
  • if there any local restrictions (such as restricted hours), on the use of your bus pass in that part of the country.

How to apply for your New National Concession Bus Pass.

Application forms for the new free National Bus Pass are available from:
Applicants must be:

1. Aged 60 years or older, and must supply:

  • Proof of age -
medical card, birth certificate or passport etc.
  • Proof of address -
recent bill, council tax bill, receipt of benefits letter etc.
  • Personal Photograph -
One recent colour passport style photograph of the applicant

2. Disabled and of fare paying age but under 60, and must supply:

  • Proof of age -
medical card, birth certificate or passport etc.
  • Proof of address -
recent bill, council tax bill, receipt of benefits letter etc.
  • Personal Photograph -
One recent colour passport style photograph of the applicant
  • Proof of disability -
For the purposes of the bus pass application disabilties are classified as being one of the following type; A, B, C, D, E, F or G. Please refer to the table below for guidance.

Proof of disability requirements.

A

Blind or partially sighted.

Letter from the your G.P. or Senior Practice Nurse or optometrist confirming that you are blind or partially sighted



B

Profoundly or severely deaf.

Letter from the your G.P. or Senior Practice Nurse or audiologist confirming that you are deaf.



C

Without speech.

Letter from the your G.P. or Senior Practice Nurse confirming that you are without speech.



D

Disability which has a substantial long term adverse effect on your ability to walk.

We require that you are either receiving Higher Rate D.L.A./ War Pensions Mobility Supplement

OR
a letter from your G.P. or Senior Practice Nurse confirming your walking disability
OR
in receipt of a current disabled persons parking badge, (blue badge).


E

Long term loss of use of both arms or the loss of both arms.

Letter from your G.P. or Senior Practice Nurse confirming your condition.



F

Learning disability.

Letter from your G.P. or Senior Practice Nurse confirming your condition.



G

Refusal of driving license / Unable to drive due to medical reasons.


This pass must be returned if the restriction is lifted.

Letter from D.V.L.A. confirming the refusal of a driving licence, or a letter from your G.P. confirming that you most likely to be refused a driving licence due to your medical condition.


This does not include those excluded from holding a licence due to the persistent misuse of drugs and/or alcohol.
