The district offers an unmatched range of leisure activities in Essex from the Festival Leisure Park entertainment super centre to the enviable 18 hole, par-72 golf course at Kingswood. The district boasts more parks and open spaces than anywhere else in the county for people to relax and enjoy outdoor life. There are country parks in Basildon, Billericay and Wickford and various nature reserves including:
- Wat Tyler Country Park at Pitsea which has a fantastic variety of children’s play areas catering for all ages.
- The leafy Lake Meadows Park at Billericay offers a quaint tea house, an established fishing lake, leisure pursuits and beautiful grassed areas to enjoy.
- The Wick Country Park at Wickford, has over two kilometres of easy access trails which lead past old hedgerows, the new five acre lake, ponds, World War II pillboxes and recent woodland plantings.
