Sports Centres Our sports centres can accommodate most sports and provide a range of programmes for all the family from preschool activities to sessions for the active retired.

A range of non-sporting activities also take place at the Sport Centres including Sci-fi Fairs, birthday parties and drama workshops.





Eversley Centre




Situated in Eversley Recreation Ground, Crest Avenue, Pitsea - Map The Eversley Centre was opened in September 1987 by the World Light-Welterweight boxing champion Terry Marsh and was named in his honour, "The Terry Marsh Centre", and features a mosaic picture of him in the entrance foyer. However, it reverted to its original name of Eversley Leisure Centre in 1993. In 1988 a climbing wall was added and in 1989 a fitness room was opened. Click Here to view daily activities.




Markhams Chase Centre




Situated in Markhams Chase Recreation Ground, Markhams Chase, Basildon - Map The Markhams Chase Centre was opened on the 7th January 1989 by local international middle distance runner Eamonn Martin. - London Marathon winner in 1993.

How to Book

Casual bookings for sports centres can be made in person or by telephone and will be accepted up to 7 days in advance. Payment must be made at the time of making the booking or within the following 48 hours.

Club requests for long term bookings of areas within all facilities are accepted from bona-fide clubs and organisations. Sports Centre bookings are subject to a minimum number of casual courts remaining available.

In order to keep disruption to a minimum during peak times, the week is generally broken down into court activities and whole hall activities. However, whenever it is practical to do so these restrictions are lifted.
